The beautiful wasteland shredding machines featured in Mad Max: Fury Road are custom made (and fully functional) works of automotive art, most of which were wrecked by the time the film was in the can.
But before they ended up in the scrap pile photographer John Platt was given the opportunity to photograph each of the 150 cars used in the production with proper lighting in his studio.
Platt's two part series "Before The Dirt" is an homage to the Angel of Combustion, who was clearly guiding the hands of the blackfingers who built the amazing vehicles who very nearly stole the show from Saint Max.
Disney princesses have some rather obvious things in common, including their physical beauty, survivor spirit and an uncanny connection to wildlife.
And for some reason they also have the color blue in common, which made designer Christopher Kane wonder "why blue?" as he designed his new Beauty and the Beast inspired collection.
"When you think of every Disney heroine — Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine — they're all wearing blue! It's a thing. 'Disney Blue."
Leatrice Eiseman of the Pantone Color Institute says it's a way to empower female characters with a color usually associated with males, which we also associate with clear blue sky positivity:
"You're adding a bit of power to the character by giving her the blue." She adds, "It's a very subtle way of saying, 'Yeah, but young women, young girls, can be empowered, too.'"
"It's dependable. It's reliable. It might cloud up, but we know it's there."
According to Wikipedia, there have been ten X-Men movies so far. That's a bunch! If you've seen them all, you no doubt have your opinions on the quality of each one. Real X-Men fans will want to argue about anyone else's ranking of them, so head over to TVOM and see how your opinion meshes with their ranking of the five best X-Men films.
Graham Norton has that special quality a select few talk show hosts possess- the ability to chat up celebrities and get them to tell him damn near anything.
This special quality is what makes The Graham Norton Show so fun to watch, well, that and Graham's naturally witty charm, which ties in to the whole "people tell him everything" thing.
But sometimes the stuff people share on his show is so shocking and outrageous that even Graham is left at a loss for words, which is no small feat! (NSFW due to language)
Wolverine never wanted to be a hero, and he spent far too long doing whatever it takes to survive to sheathe his claws once he put on a costume and joined the X-Men.
So it's no surprise that Wolvie has committed some mighty dark acts during his nearly forty years at Marvel, but seeing some of his worst acts spelled out may make you look at the mighty mutant in a different light.
Looper presents an eye opening look at six times Wolverine proved he's a total savage, starting with the time he drowned his own son and ending with proof that Ultimate Wolverine is even worse than the original!
Mr. Bean always did seem a bit off, what with his solitary lifestyle, his obsession with Teddy the teddy bear and his incessant mumbling, but nobody ever pegged him as a killer.
Now, thanks to this hilarious recut of the Bean movie trailer by John Loberger, I can't help but see Mr. Bean as a total psycho who uses the bumbling fool act as a cover for his bloody deeds.
Geordi La Forge was born blind and yet he can see better than anyone else on the Enterprise thanks to his signature visor.
It may look like a hair clip, and clash with everything in his wardrobe, but as this comic by Caldwell Tanner shows Geordi's visor gives him the extraordinary ability to see what his fellow crewmates wish to remain hidden. And Captain Picard has some 'splainin' to do about that tattoo!
I don't care if you're the Queen of England or the White House Press Secretary, if you're a public persona wearing something strikingly green in front of millions of people, you should expect someone to mess around by chroma keying your tie.
Sean Spicer just learned his lesson when he wore a green tie to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day to a White House Press Conference and quickly inspired Jesse McLaren to make this video using the tie as a green screen.
Have you ever wanted to cover something in LEGO bricks but didn't want to spend the time and energy gluing each base brick to the object?
Or perhaps the entire process of attaching LEGO bricks to stuff sounds like a project you lack the skills and patience to complete. Isn't there an easier way?
Well, the answer used to be no but now thanks to Nimuno's amazing LOOPS tape you can turn anything into a LEGO building block compatible surface in a snap!
Nimuno's wondrous LOOPS tape has adhesive on one side and LEGO brick compatible bumps on the other, so you can stick and brick virtually any object, including yourself.
Just don't try to stick it on your cat or they might use your LEGO storage container as a litter box...
The Ghost In The Shell movie adaptation looks like it's going to be a visual treat for sci-fi fans, but one element of the production stands out more than the rest- Motoko's thermoptic suit.
It's sleek, sexy and, according to WETA Workshop costume artist Flo Foxworthy, most likely the first time a full silicone hero suit has been created for a movie.
Flo literally gave Danica Chan of Tested full access to the suit by letting her slip it on, showing off the hidden features of her marvelously modern feat of costume engineering.
When bibliophiles go out looking for a new book to add to their collection they tend to skip the gimmicky covers and go for titles/authors they know, or those which have been recommended to them.
But there's one slightly gimmicky book out there which needs no recommendation and yet is likely to be recommended by all after being purchased- How To Talk To Your Cat About Gun Safety.
Zachary Auburn's hilarious spoof scored high ratings from both gun nuts and cat nuts:
Promising review: “I decided to order this because my cat was out of control; promiscuous, a gun nut, and using the internet unsafely. I read her this book over the course of a month, and did some activities. I now have a well adjusted, polite, safe cat who enjoys life the way it was meant to be. Thank you.” —Amazon Customer
How To Survive A Garden Gnome Attack is another must read book if you live in an area heavily populated by garden gnomes, because knowledge is power and power is safety...or something like that.
But enough with the comedy, let's get serious about the mental benefits of reading books- books teach us stuff, and this knowledge can help us master new skills and even start a new career.
Or you can buy How To Be A Drug Dealer by author 673126 and learn how to start a career in crime from a very reputable and proud source who has a knack for encouraging people to commit felonies.
The incredible music that came out in the 80s was a huge part of what made it the most radical decade of the 20th century, and in the 80s it wasn't uncommon to see musicians trying their hand at acting.
In fact, some musicians were so good at acting their appearances became the stuff of TV legend, like the time Phil Collins played crooked game show host Phil the Shill on Miami Vice.
It's weird how good Phil Collins is in this role, but you know what's just plain strange in every way? The fact that the B-52s appeared on the soap opera Guiding Light back in 1982. What was that all about?!
And speaking of strange pop culture juxtapositions- Boy George appeared on an episode of The A-Team called Cowboy George- it doesn't get much more 80s than that!
Famous faces starring in some of the most memorable roles in pop culture are popular subjects in the world of fan art, but few artists are able to capture both the personality of the actor and the character they're playing.
This leaves their artwork lacking life, but the digital art portraits created by Russian artist Aleksei Vinogradov are full of colorful life with personality to spare.
Aleksei's portraits star famous actors playing equally famous roles, and many also include strange little critters serving as the characters' pets, as if the portraits themselves weren't appealing enough already!
Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends always seemed a bit creepy to me, especially when you consider those talking trains will someday rise up against their human oppressors and make a bloody mess on the tracks.
So why on Earth would a human want to enhance Thomas by giving him robo-legs and a frickin' flamethrower?
Because the human in question is mad model builder Peter Sripol, and he loves to play with deadly toys...as long as he's holding the remote control!
People who went to themed eateries like Showbiz Pizza Palace as a kid have fond memories of watching the robot band The Rock-afire Explosion while eating crappy pizza and trying to win enough tickets for a big prize.
So when all Showbiz Pizza Place locations either closed or changed into Chuck E. Cheese's in 1992 fans of the Explosion were in shock, since part of their childhood had just beeen scrapped.
But 38-year-old Damon Breland wasn't ready to let those fond memories go, so he started buying up all the animatronics, interior decor and costumes he could find from the good old days of ShowBiz and Chuck E. Cheese's.
Now Damon's collection resides in an old abandoned gas station in Sandy Hook, Mississippi he renamed Smitty's Super Service Station, where lucky fans can go to see the Rock-afire perform like they did decades ago.
Damon's collection even includes The KING from Chuck E. Cheese's, which used to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid for some reason. Now they all make my skin crawl...in a good way!
