How To Play Tekken With A MIDI Keyboard

(Video Link)

Game controllers are so old fashioned, and totally boring with their lack of accompanying musical tones and multicolored buttons that represent letters instead of musical notes.

Musician and gamer Geoffrey Guterl has come up with a new way to play- an ivory tickling hack which allows him to play Tekken on his Xbox 360 via MIDI controller, in this case a keyboard. Here's how it's done:

The piano sends a MIDI signal, which is transferred to an Arduino. According to the signals, the Arduino triggers transistors, which then trigger inputs on a paewang PCB (this is the PCB of an arcade stick). The paewang is connected to an Xbox360 (you can also use it on PS3).

If crafty gamers like Geoffrey keep coming up with cool ways to combine music and video games we’ll soon be playing our own Holophoner renditions of Skyrim.
