Star Wars Reads Day: A Force for Literacy

This Saturday, over 600 public and school libraries and 1,000 booksellers in the United States are promoting reading by celebrating Star Wars Reads Day. Other libraries in Austria, Australia, Germany and Canada are also participating. With the assistance of Lucasfilms's publishing arms, these organizations will provide Star Wars-themed books and graphic novels.

Members of the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion--organizations of Star Wars fans who dress variously as stormtroopers and Rebel Alliance fighters--will be on hand to assist in the events. Hopefully there is no violence between the two groups.

You can find a list of participating libraries here.

Ooh, I like it! Wish I had known sooner, would have done something for today. (Who has school on Saturday?) Thanks for the list, I see there's a participating Indigo across town.
