Secret World Of Arrietty Cosplay

Photo: MoratayaPhoto/Flickr

Studio Ghibli's animated feature The Secret World Of Arrietty delighted both kids and adults alike with a story about four inch tall people trying to survive in a big person's world, and cosplayers have finally started looking to the film for costume inspiration.

Here's a cosplayer named Sam- she's got the look and all the right accessories for playing Arrietty, but what really sells the tiny person factor is the giant Colocasia leaf she's carrying around with her, it makes her look so small!

Transformers Costume With Working Flamethrower

Dressing up like your favorite Transformer is one thing, but arming your costume with a working flamethrower means you're taking the robot cosplay thing to the limit.

This custom made Bumblebee costume was built  by Travis Culling, features working LED lights and headlights in addition to the flamethrower, and is currently for sale on Etsy.

It may look cool to spout flames out of your arm for photo ops, but what happens if your (mostly wooden) costume catches on fire?

This Chair's Got Guts

This vinyl chair with disgusting resin guts sculpture was crafted by Chinese artist Cao Hui, who clearly isn't a fan of comfy seating.

Why Cao gutted a chair:

"In order to deceive others, we explain with theory after theory, but it all ends in laughter and sometimes we even amuse ourselves before god laughs."

The Backwoods Maze Walkthrough

(YouTube Link)

(YouTube Link)

Burbank's Backwood Maze is a remarkably good looking haunt despite the lack of massive location or budget. Believe it or not this maze is built in someone's backyard, and tickets are free although donations are encouraged and deserved.

The 2012 theme was an apocalyptic wasteland, but since they start fresh each year who knows what terrifying delights the Backwood Maze will be serving up in 2013!

Actress Lauren Harper put together this informative tutorial video showing how she put together the makeup for her Black Dahlia inspired costume.

Lauren's thoughts on this morbid tribute to Hollywood-

When I moved to Los Angeles, the story of The Black Dahlia became even more relevant. Just like Elizabeth Short, I was living alone in Hollywood and here to pursue my dream as an actress.

For Halloween this year, I decided to pay my respects to Elizabeth Short but with a twist…

Horror Comedy Short - Structure Kill

(Vimeo Link)

Structure Kill is a short horror film by Stephen Vitale that's described as "not your typical horror film parking structure scene".

Well, this is one of those times when "not typical" means hilarious and extremely enjoyable. Be sure to check your back seat before getting in your car, or you may come face-to-face with an amateur killer and his psycho ex-girlfriend!

The Stripiest Man In Town

The gentleman featured in this photo may be Waldo's long-lost father, or an escaped prisoner trying to conceal his jailhouse stripes by covering everything he owns in stripes. Except for his Crocs, of course, because those are worn for comfort, not style.
