10 Obscure, DIY Geeky Costumes for Halloween

No matter how much effort you put into a costume, it goes south when you find you are one of ten Batmen at a party -or even worse, a costume contest. I did recognize the outfit, but if I hadn't seen depictions of Poe, I wouldn't have.

Poe is pretty much an obscurity in non-literary circles, Noelegy. I wrote a brief parody of the Raven once for some friends in New Zealand, England, and the USA, and they thought it was cute, but the reference was completely lost on them. And these were educated people.

Poe was a drunk pedophile who wrote an excellent poem and some intriguing but bizarre short stories.

He spent much of his life throwing away opportunities that were handed to him, because of his pride, and he died a disgrace.

Aside from that fact, is it any wonder that today's increasingly less literate generation would find Poe obscure?
