What's in This Cabinet?

What do you store in the cabinet over the refrigerator? Redditor phalangeslemon posted this picture that terms this cupboard "literally pointless." That makes sense: the cabinet is too high for most people and the large American refrigerator makes it even more difficult to reach. But people aren't about to let storage space go to waste. In the replies, many explained that this cupboard is for Christmas kitchenware that's only retrieved once a year, like serving platters and cookie cutters. Others described the rarely- or never-used items they stored there, such as picnic supplies or fondue pots. A few tall guys hide their treats or alcohol from the rest of the household over the refrigerator. And some said they have no idea what is up there because they stack cereal boxes on top of the refrigerator, blocking the cabinet doors.

I went to look at my refrigerator cupboard. On the more accessible side, I have things I don't use often, like a hand mixer, rolling pin, meat grinder, and an electric knife that I have only used once because I don't like it and forgot about it. I went to the less accessible side and oh my. It's full of parts and accessories for kitchen gadgets I no longer own. Maybe I should get the ladder and clean it out. Have you checked your inaccessible cabinet lately? What's up there (if you don't mind sharing)?

Ours are quite deep so I outfitted them with sliding drawers so you could actually get into them. It still requires a ladder, but it far less inconvenient that some other setups.
We use one side for gadgets and supplies we rarely use (the blender, my wife's huge water bottle collection, etc.).
The other side is long term storage of bulk basics with a long shelf life. Crackers, pasta, etc. When we run out of the read supply, we refresh from long term storage. When long term storage runs low, we stock up on more.

First I had to move the bread basket and cereal boxes on top of the frig out of the way to check. Cookie cutters on one side and a thermal lunch bad in the shape of a cat that my daughter hasn't used in several years. We only makes cookies once a year at Christmas and that is done at grandma's house with her own cutters.

I store paperwear and large jugs up there. In a past house, where the cabinet was as deep as the fridge I stored so much more.. Large bowls, dog treats, kids crafts that I didn't want them getting into...

I agree. Those are pointless and on the verge of being useless. I've never even seen cupboards above a fridge that aren't flush with the front of the fridge. And I ain't no spring chicken. Even when beside less deep upper cabinets, the above the fridge ones stick out.

Cans of soup, tomato sauce, pickled jalapeno peppers, garbanzo beans Boxes of crackers. spaghetti, sweetener packets, hot chocolate packets, oatmeal. A bag of dollar store popcorn. Corn chips if I have them. Juanita uses the middle shelves of things and I use the highest ones and the lowest ones. There's a high shelf at the top of the medicine-and-towels cupboard in the bathroom; I use that to collect my dirty clothes.
