I have found kitchen islands to be impractical and downright annoying. They stop the flow of traffic and you end up bumping into other people. Also, the golden triangle can be broken by an island. Golden triangle is an imaginary triangle that supports the ease of working in a kitchen so in a few steps you can easily reach 3 things in your kitchen which are the oven/range, the fridge and the sink. Nothing should block the flow to these 3 items in your kitchen.Unless you have a very large and roomy kitchen an island might not be a good idea. I had two homes that had large kitchens with islands and could not stand them.
