Oh, so two actors on The Bold and the Beautiful are getting close, moving in for a kiss. How do they do that and maintain COVID-19 protocols?
No, wait, that's not an actress. That's a mannequin. What the heck is going on here?
I missed this story last year, which is a shame because it's a doozy. Television producers maintained social distancing requirements while keeping up the steamy, hot action on daytime soap operas by shooting mannequins that look like particular characters. With good camera work, it would be easy to fool the audience. The New York Times reported last July about The Bold and the Beautiful and other soaps:
“At first, we took out the love scenes, and the show was falling a little flat because we’re all about romance and family interactions,” said Bradley Bell, the executive producer of the CBS daytime drama. “One of the first ideas we had was to bring in mannequins for the intimate scenes and hospital scenes, and it’s working quite well — we’re shooting it from a great distance or in a way you can’t see the form is inanimate.”
How are the performers reacting to their lifeless co-stars? “We’ve had a lot of strange looks and questions like, Do you really want to do this?” Bell said. “But everyone is game. They are getting their first latex kiss.”
It probably would have been cheaper to use anime hug pillows like normal people do.

Listen, this isn't weird at all. It's inventive. Think about it: way back before the days of sfx, people used scaled-down space ships or inanimate robots or still backdrops for scenery. We've gone well beyond that now, and this not only keeps the people employed but it keeps them safe and keeps the viewers entertained. I see no downside!
