Neatorama readers are probably familiar with the gory 90's HBO series Tales From the Crypt. This series was based on the famous EC horror comics of the 1950's, although it also used plotlines from other of the EC titles. But 20 years before the HBO series, there was the 1972 film Tales From the Crypt, based on the same horror comics.
This film is a British production, so we are treated to see Joan Collins as a murderous housewife on Christmas Eve, and Peter Cushing as a suicide returned from the grave for revenge. The film is an anthology, broken into five short segments, each independent of the others. While not as gory as the HBO series, this film is still not suitable for young children. But, if you've never read the EC comics or seen the HBO series, get ready to learn the true meaning of poetic justice.
