I'm sure that the idea of a centaur made some kind of sense to some person at some time, or else we wouldn't have any notion of the mythical beast. The creature doesn't really hold up under scrutiny. It's even more horrifying to imagine a neonatal reverse centaur, one that has the non-functioning legs of a newborn human and the head and forelimbs of a foal. I got that image out of my head by recalling the song "The Mermaid" by "Great Big Sea." Similar principle though.
