Remember When Christmas Used To Be A Whole Lot Tackier?

Christmas traditions have become so homogenized and generic that every trip to Target makes me long for the days of crazy random ornaments on the tree, analog toys with zero digital function and crazy mall Santas with a bit of an edge.

That's why I like to check out Christmas photos from yesteryear and see what the holiday is missing today, I mean, besides the cigarettes, booze and funky fashion.

Nobody poses by their tree with a monkey anymore, nor do they openly show their disdain for the sweater their wife bought them or wear matching red and white check jumpers their mother made from an old tablecloth.

Christmas is just too cool for all that jazz these days, but can you ever really be too cool to pose for a family Christmas photo while in the hot tub together? Nah, that'll definitely always be cool!

I was born in 1970, and looking at those pictures I realize that I miss shorts. Real shorts. Shorts that end above mid-calf. Most shorts for men these days go to just above the knee, which is entirely too long.
