Photos Of David Bowie And Ex-Wife Angie Taking Their Son Zowie For A Walk In 1971

David Bowie was a consummate showman, and he was so good at creating rock star personas that he rarely left the house without his Thin White Duke face on.

But when it came to spending time with his then-wife Angie and his baby son Zowie the real David Bowie behind the rock star persona couldn't help but shine through.

Of course, as you can see in these pics taken by photojournalist Ron Burton, Bowie still dressed for his Life On Mars even when he was spending quality time with his family.

But he loved his son Zowie, who now goes by Duncan Jones, so much he even wrote a song for him- Kooks, which appeared on the 1971 album Hunky Dory:

Will you stay in our lovers’ story?” David Bowie asks in a song addressed to his newborn son Zowie. “If you stay you won’t be sorry, ’cause we believe in you.”

“I bought you a pair of shoes, a trumpet you can blow and a book of rules on what to say to people when they pick on you,” sings Bowie. “‘Cause if you stay with us you’re gonna be pretty kooky too.”
