Embers & Dust

Orson Welles broadcast his radio play "War of the Worlds," about an alien invasion, on October 30th, 1938. Some folks missed the disclaimer at the beginning that assured listeners that it was a work of fiction. Now, if they'd listened longer, these folks would find that out soon enough. But as luck would have it, a transformer blew in Concrete, Washington, during the broadcast. What would you do?

Bacon lovers are probably afraid of aggressive male sexuality, due to the food's resemblance to a limp, nonfunctional phallus. Either that or, uh, they enjoy the taste of greasy, yummy breakfast meat. I'm not very good at this Freud thing, to be honest.

Bacon is a wonderful thing, but I would not want to chew it for much longer than it takes to swallow it. So yeah, I wouldn't touch these gumballs with a ten foot pole.

I went to Archie McPhee's recently and got the bacon jellybeans as I told my friends, "bacon jellybeans are better left imagined than tasted." But the bacon shaped tin is awesome...

Really? Can we all STOP with the bacon already? I just wrote a blog post about how over bacon I am -- read more of my ranting here: http://randomaccessbabble.com/2009/01/move-over-bacon.html
