Why Do Cats Like Catnip?

The key ingredient is nepetalactone. That's a new one on me. It's a kind of cat pheromone, which only makes you appreciate how nature has given a gift to cats in plant form. -via Laughing Squid

I've never met a cat that didn't like catnip. Not liking the 'nip seems a bit unnatural to me. The cats seem to get so much enjoyment from it. I love seeing them playing and having a good time and then crashing and burning and having a very long nap.
