Things You Learn

There are so many things you have to teach your children before they leave home, it's easy to leave something out. I have discussed the signs of an abusive relationship and the signs of a stroke with my daughters, but of course they'll run into other situations none of us could have predicted. They know they must files taxes and apply for health insurance, but getting them to do it will be a pain. The points that are plotted on this graph from Randall Munroe at xkcd hint at some personal experiences. What else would you slip into this graph, based on your personal experience?

I'd add retirement planning as moderately easy to grow up without learning, but pretty bad if you never learn. Very easy to get started way too late because it's so hard to see 50 years out when you're 20.
