The votes have been counted and the people have spoken: Donald J. Trump has been elected the 45th president of the United States in a stunning election that defied months of pollings and predictions of countless pundits.

Whether you liked him or not, get used to saying that come Inauguration Day on January 20, 2017.

I'm not American but I was hoping for the other candidate to win. Sadly, Trump trumped Clinton. Time to move on. I think the Trump campaign was more showmanship than true conviction. He's a moderate NY paleo-con, so I don't think he'll go wingnut crazy, at least not at first. And with a robust rule of law, the US will not really tolerate any of Trump's grandiose campaign promises.

In some ways he's better for the rest of the world since he's more of an isolationist paleo-con than the expansionist neo-con of Dubya. So, not much meddling in international affairs. And he seems willing to bury the hatchet with Putin.
