The Witch House of Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills is known for mega-mansions and celebrities, but amongst the glitz and glamour lies the strange and wonderful Witch House. The strange structure was orginally built in Hollywood back in 1920s for the silent film production company Willat Productions.

The house was built not only as a film set, but also as a studio dressing room and as an office, so it was a reasonable expense, but when the studio closed down and the house was slated to be torn down, producer Ward Lascelle stepped in to save it. That's when the home got moved to Beverly Hills.

You can read the rest of the home's history and see more photos over at LAist.

would prefer cybermen as knights, headless monks as bishops. Rory should be a knight. But appreciate the thought that went into it

It would get a little complicated because he uses different characters for every knight on the board.

As for characters I agree with wry on his choices of knights and bishops.

I was about to second the comment about different knights being distracting, but the Judoon and Sontaran look similar enough that it would be easy to tell at a glance they're the same piece in the game. Then I remembered they've dropped hints Captain Jack and the Face of Boe, the knights on the other side, are actually the same character, which makes it sort of brilliant. I also like the TARDIS as castle/rook since it suggests the shape of the original chess piece. All in all, very well done. Does it say what these are made of? It looks like a polymer clay, like Sculpey, but I may be wrong.

That is a little unfair. The player has to watch the board at all times or the weeping angles will just kill them and claim check mate.

All and All this is awesome. :)

Hello! I'm the artist who made this and I'm a girl! So not a 'he'. ;) Just so you know. And yes, it's polymer clay. Just added that to the description on DeviantArt.
