Animation student Craig McCracken put together a cartoon called Whoopass Stew for his thesis project at CalArts in 1992. It starred three superhero characters called the Whoopass Girls.
You may recognize them as resembling the Powerpuff Girls, which is what they became at Cartoon Network when they finally got a series from 1998-2005.
