Jaquie broke her spine in an accident eight years ago. She’s been working to walk again for years, but ramped up her physical therapy in the past year so she could walk down the aisle at her wedding and dance at the reception. Note the empty wheelchair in the background.
Artist Maggie Smith Kuhn (redditor cadmiumred) paints scenes of live events like weddings, and was in place to paint Jaquie and Andy’s first dance as husband and wife. She painted the background ahead of time, had two minutes or so to sketch in the bride and groom as they danced, and filled in the guests over the evening. She also included the bride’s cats and dogs even though they weren’t there, because she knew that would be appreciated. She posted images that tell the story at imgur.
