When Paris was attacked by terrorists last year, the world stood with France and symbolized their support with lighted landmarks. In a similar fashion, cities and landmarks around the world used rainbow colors to to memorialize those who were killed at the Pulse nightclub Saturday night. They also serve as a symbol of support for Orlando and the LGBT community that was targeted by the shooter. Forty-nine people died at the hand of one man, who was then killed by police. Fifty-three others were wounded. The outpouring of sympathy has been coming from all over the world. See a roundup of the rainbow displays at Atlas Obscura.
