Dog Rescued After Living On Freeway Median For Over A Month

We hear horror stories about abandoned animals saved from the jaws of death far too often these days, but the really odd cases stay with us to remind us how not to care for a pet.

A German shepherd was recently saved from a freeway median in Los Angeles where she'd been living for at least five weeks after jumping out of the bed of her owner's truck.

The dog, dubbed Freeway Frida by the Galt police officer Sylvia Coelho who rescued her, was first spotted by drivers on Highway 99 near Simmerhorn Road back in April, but she evaded capture so the police were unable to nab her until around May 18th.

Frida was treated for a broken leg and is said to be doing well, and since she's not microchipped and her owner isn't coming forward (for obvious reasons) officer Cuelho says she might have to adopt her.
