Comedian Delivers TED Talk About His Adventures In Spammer Trolling

Replying to spam email is something that internet users have been warned against since the 90s, which is probably why comedian James Veitch thought it might be fun.

But there's no way he could have known that by replying to a spam email from a guy named Solomon Odonkoh he'd be embarking on a grand adventure of the bizarro kind.

Here is James delivering a very entertaining TED Talk about his adventures in spammer trolling.

I first wrote about James and his delightful correspondence with Solomon in this Neatorama article, but seeing him deliver a TED Talk about his days of spammer trolling makes the whole surreal experience seem like a lot of fun.

If only all spammers were as persistent and gullible as Solomon Odonkoh...

Too, too funny! I loved this. Almost (almost!) makes me want to mess with some of these people. Unfortunately my mother-in-law got scammed by one of them and it was pretty scary getting her sorted out from him. FYI, IF anyone ever calls you "crying" and says "Hi Grandma (Grandpa) it's me!" Don't give them a name they can use. "Is this you, Bobby? You don't sound the same!" "That's because I've been crying, Grandma!" Unless you want to use a fake name to see if they'll bite. My M_I_L gave him a name and then it was off to the races. $3,000 later...
