United State of Pop 2015 (50 Shades of Pop)

DJ Earworm has released his annual remix that combines all the top hits of the previous year into one megamix. Most of his year-end remixes used the top 25 songs, but this one contains the top 50.

I was a little disappointed with DJ Earworm’s remix of 2014 that came out a year ago, but since he is limited to the source material for such a project, this one shows how 2015 was an improvement over the previous year in the songs that became hits.

“It’s a more eclectic mix than it was five years ago,” said DJ Earworm when explaining to Billboard how different the songs were in style and tempo. The mix takes megahits like The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” Major Lazer’s “Lean On,” Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk,” and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” among many others from artists like Drake, Justin Bieber, Ellie Goulding, Wiz Khalifa, Rihanna, Fetty Wap and, of course, Adele. Taylor Swift has the most songs on the mix, which is no surprise as her album, 1989, was at or near the top of the charts all year.
