The Hobbit Flipbook Drawn onto the Pages of The Hobbit

Flipbooks are a fun and underappreciated artform. We love them! And if you do, too, you may wish to visit the Undercover Festival of Flipbooks in Darlington, County Durham, UK. It takes place between October 23 and November 30. The Darlington Library is hosting it. Many artists have contributed by drawing flipbooks into the pages of print books, which the library staff has hidden in the stacks of their collection.

Mark Hughes drew this flipbook, which summarizes The Hobbit in the pages of Tolkein's novel. You can see other similar flipbooks at Aaron Hecht's Vimeo channel, including Stephen King's Cujo.

-via Laughing Squid, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Congratulations!
