John Oliver recently discussed the British House of Lords, which is something few Americans are familiar with. One of the oddest aspects (at least, to Americans) of the House of Lords is their official titles that sound equally pompous and preposterous. Never has this point been quite so well illustrated than in the "And Now" segment of the show, where he demonstrated that these names actually work better for adorable pet names than actual titles for people.
