We continue to integrate computer technology into cars in hopes of making them more efficient, more autonomous and so they feel more like home while we’re on the road, but progress isn’t always a good thing.
It seems the smarter the car the easier it is for a hacker to completely shut that car down, and as Wired writer Andy Greenberg discovered finding your smart car has shut down on the highway is utterly terrifying.
In this instance Andy’s 2014 Jeep Cherokee was purposely shut down by hackers Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek in order to prove a point, but imagine how hackers will wreak havoc on the highways in the smart car future.
