But a digital artist’s job isn't just to make the effects believable- it's to make the VFX so believable, and so seamlessly integrated into the film, that viewers can’t tell what’s real and what’s CGI.

Here’s a marvel-ous breakdown video that reveals the digital artistry added to Captain America: Winter Soldier by Beijing-based VFX studio BaseFX.

It's interesting to see how much of our favorite films are shot in a total green screen environment nowadays, and even simple stunts are nothing but a pile of polygons nowadays.

Just saw the most recent Avengers movie. The entire opening scene really failed to grab me the way I think they wanted it to; a lot of people being tossed about like CGI ragdolls.
I think we've thrown out "make it believable" for the "make it awesome".
