Richard Pryor seems like an unlikely candidate to head a kid’s TV show, but back in the mid-80s Pryor actually made a brief appearance on CBS’s epic Saturday Morning lineup.
Pryor's Place was created by Sid and Marty Krofft and ran for thirteen episodes back in 1984, at a time when Pryor was busy becoming more kid friendly with lead roles in Superman III and The Toy.
Pryor’s Place featured puppets, singing, dancing and comedy sketches, with appearances by classic Pryor characters like the wise wino Mudbone, toned down for younger viewers.
It's not as entertaining as The Richard Pryor Show, but fans of classic children's TV and all things 80s will definitely get a kick out of this vintage oddity.
