One reason it’s so important to learn world geography, national geography, and map reading is that you will be able to spot the many times that someone uses a map hilariously wrong. A list at Vox has three sections: Maps that give no information, maps that are just wrong, and maps used on TV that should have thoroughly embarrassed the graphic arts department. The map I chose to illustrate them was the one that made me laugh out loud. There were others that would have, if I hadn’t seen them before. Some of the others just made me cringe. With the exceptions of Hawaii and Alaska, our states ARE united. (Hence, those two 'states' were unconstitutionally added to the fold.)
