Did You Know That Just 3 Actors Voice Over 70 Characters in The Simpsons?

Besides Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpsons, there are about 200 recurring characters in the long-running TV show The Simpsons. But unless you're a big Simpsons fan, you'd probably be surprised to learn that a huge majority of them are voiced by just a dozen actors. What's even more amazing is that 3 of them - Dan Castellaneta, Hank Azaria, and Harry Shearer - play more than 70 characters.

Jishai of Dadaviz charted the characters the actors play in this neat graph. Just think about it: how in the world do the actors keep them all straight?

I would guess there have been plenty of soundtrack screwups when someone used the wrong voice at the last second. You just try it again. But somewhere, there an audio engineer who is keeping the funniest of them for a blooper reel.
