Capturing a celebrity’s good side is easy, capturing them as they play a role even easier, but cutting through the standard celeb fare and capturing the very essence/soul of a celeb on film is an extremely tall order.
Celebs try to keep their real selves hidden from any and all cameras by default, preferring to stay wrapped up in their roles rather than allowing themselves to become vulnerable. These walls are part of their charm, but also detrimental to discovering the real person beneath the façade.
Photographer Frank Bauer has a knack for cutting through the character costume and revealing the real person playing the roles. His portraits have a staged yet intimate nature that makes them more interesting than a merely introspective photo, and more revealing than your average posed celeb portrait.
If celeb shots don't appeal to you then take a look at Frank's Facebook fan page and you'll discover his talents go well beyond his work with the Hollywood elite, because Frank is also an accomplished travel and landscape photographer.
