The animated movie about that mermaid had gotten Ursula all wrong- she wasn't a bad girl, she was just drawn that way. In real life she was far more likely to use her powers of seduction and charm to seduce unwitting princes rather than trickery and deceit. She still isn't very well liked by the undersea denizens of Poseidon's kingdom, but that's beceause everyone is jealous of her good looks and likeability, and girls are afraid of letting her near their man lest she snatch them away with a smile!
