Meredith Woolnough is an Australian visual artist with a unique technique she employs to create these designs. Woolnough uses water-soluble fabric to make the intricate, nature-inspired creations shown here. The design is traced atop the water-soluble fabric, at which point Woolnough embroiders the tracing. Then the fabric is dissolved. The delicate form that remains is mounted in various ways; in clear resin or on paper, for example. The embroidery is done with a conventional sewing machine.
