How to Dye Your Armpit Hair

I've never dyed my armpit hair, so I was a bit surprised at the complexity of the task. There's more to it than just slathering on dye with a brush.

Roxie Hunt is a stylist at Vain, a salon in Seattle. She has a lot of experience with dyeing hair, but never armpit hair. Rain, one of her colleagues, volunteered to be her test subject. Hunt used a mixture of bleach, 30 volume developer, and two shades of blue dye. Rain had to hold her arms up while the dye dried. But the wait was worth it: for 2 weeks, she had armpits with a rich shade of blue.
