Have you ever seen a deer with such fangs? This is the Chinese Water Deer (Hydropotes inermis inermis) also known colloquially as the vampire deer. The fangs, or tusks, are not used for eating and are loose in their sockets, so the deer can move them out of the way while they eat. Both males and females develop tusks, although they are smaller in the female. What are they for? Mainly, they are just for show.
