Photo Series Featuring Spellbinding Death Masks

When British photographer Rankin teamed up with Beauty Editor Andrew Gallimore to create a mesmerizing series of images entitled Epitaph the name hinted at the underlying theme but did not reveal the visual splendor that awaited the viewer.

The theme is death, brought to visual life through a collection of extremely diverse death masks inspired by Mexico’s Dia De Los Muertos, with a little KISS and horror movie inspiration thrown in for good measure.

The bright pop of the masks sits in stark contrast to the shadowy models covered in black paint, each one identically anonymous beneath the mask created to celebrate a time when they lived in full color.
