Feathers are beautiful in their own right, like little delicate sprays of color that come straight from the bird, but when an artist has decided to create their work on a specific surface the whole “but the feather is already colorful” argument goes right out the window.
Wildlife artist Brenda Lyons is one of those people who believes not every painting belongs on a canvas, and her fantastic miniature paintings in her appropriately titled series Painted Feathers each reside on the side of moulted turkey feathers.
Brenda's paintings really capture the spirit of each animal, and her delightful paintings of fantasy creatures like the phoenix and pegasus fit right in with the rest so well you almost forget they're mythical!
