World Airports Voronoi

A Voronoi diagram is a way of plotting distances. It divides space into regions that are closer to plotted plaints than to other plotted points.

The interactive Voronoi Diagram of World Airports by Jason Davies shows you the regions in which any point is closer to one (medium or large) airport than to the next. You can hover over a region to see the name of the airport. Such a diagram will tell you that the point on earth most remote from an airport is in Antarctica. Yes, there are airports in Antarctica, but none that are classified as medium or large. Including those in a world diagram would make the entire diagram unreadable. Exploring the world through this diagram is a lot of fun!  -via Metafilter
