This beautiful insect is the rosy maple moth (Dryocampa rubicunda). It is native to North America and most frequently found in southern Canada from Ontario to Nova Scotia. It lives in deciduous forests, hence its association with maple trees. Adult males often have vivid colors, mostly pink and yellow.
