When elderly people fall, the consequences are often disastrous. B-Shoe Technologies, an Israeli start-up company, has developed a shoe that it claims will reduce the incidence of falling.
When it detects that the user has lost his/her balance and is about to fall backwards, the motorized heel drives the shoe back, restoring balance. In short, it performs a corrective maneuver faster than an elderly user might be able to.
The company has produced 3 pairs of B-Shoes. They're now being tested in hospitals in Israel.
