How Self-Checkouts Work

Abstruse Goose

Self-checkout registers at stores may seem unreliable, but that's only because you've misunderstood their purpose. They exist to amuse their builders, not make buying things easier.

Typically, I'll use the self check because it's faster. I don't know why, in America, we have to wait so long to pay someone to buy the goods their selling.

we just get a hand scanner, beep the codes in the store, see our total amound (including discounts) hang the scanner and pay with a card. Easy as hell and you dont have to unload the goods from the bag again. They keep us honest by using suprise bagchecks. (at the pay terminal).

I figure they ought to give me a couple of per cent discount for doing the work their checkers get paid to do.

These things do nothing but piss me off.

Last time (I do mean the LAST), it did zero right and I just walked out, leaving my shopping on the counter, and went out for dinner.
