Inspired by the works of Salvador Dalí, Oscar Tusquets, an artist in Spain, built cabinets using taxidermied sheep. They specifically reference this image by Dalí, entitled “Interpretation Project for a Stable-Library.” You can see the sheep model on the left side of the picture.
Tusquets worked with Deyrolle, a famous French taxidermy studio in Paris, to make 21 sheep cabinets, each of which will sell for about $82,000. Each cabinet has bronze feet, a tabletop and a handy drawer.
There will be 20 white sheep and 1 black sheep with white legs. The Daily Mail explains that the black one is a reference to a Catalan expression, “a black sheep with white legs,” which is something that is impossible.
