If you watched the Super Bowl last night, you may have spotted the athletes sitting on fancy benches while on the sidelines. It was only 49°F, but game officials were worried that the temperature would be even colder. These benches blasted hot or cold air as needed and kept the players warm while not on the field.
Athletic Recovery Zone designed them for the Jacksonville Jaguars, a professional football team based in Florida. The team found that the hot Florida summer weather was too much some players. ARZ leases its benches and uses its own technicians to hook up the electrical and plumbing connections. Although the company currently provides them to sports teams, it’s also trying to market them to industrial facilities, such as smelting operations, which provide very hot or cold working conditions.
