You most likely didn’t see the most over-the-top Super Bowl ad, unless you were watching a Savannah, Georgia, TV station. This takes lawyer ads to a whole new level. A local two-minute spot by attorney Jamie Casino tells the story of how the murder of his brother turned a criminal defense lawyer into a personal injury attorney. The ad paints it as a metamorphosis from aiding and abetting the scum of the earth to a superhero defender of the innocent and downtrodden, with a few jabs at Savannah police chief Willie Lovett along the way. A news story from the fall of 2012 clarifies the controversy over the chief’s statements.
Local reaction to the ad in Savannah, where people recall the 2012 death of Casino’s brother, Michael Biancosino, was mixed. An arrest was made in December of 2013 in the murder case, although the man suspected of the actual shooting has since died.
Whatever you think of the circumstances behind the ad, you have to admit that Michael Bay would be proud of the finished product.
