Disney's Touchstone Pictures produced a film in 1990 about a streetwalker who finds love with a millionaire. Pretty Woman was a romantic comedy that strangely resembled My Fair Lady with a touch of Cinderella thrown in. The improbable plot was overshadowed by the likable stars, Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, and it became a huge hit. But there's many things about the movie still to learn. The story didn't start out to be so happy.
3. Originally Vivian was going to be addicted to drugs, but instead they opted for a more light-hearted film.
Part of the deal was that she had to stay off cocaine for a week, because she needed the extra money for a trip to Disneyland. Edward eventually throws her out of his car and drives away. The movie was scripted to end with Vivian and her friend on the bus to Disneyland.
And the filming wasn't always easy, either.
11. Julia Roberts got so nervous during this scene a visible vein popped out of her forehead. The director got into bed with her and Gere and they massaged her forehead until it disappeared.
