Artists Turn Toilets Into Works Of Art To Benefit The Homeless

The Lava Mae project heard it said that modern art is going straight down the toilet, so for their new project to benefit the homeless they decided to take it literally and commissioned artists to turn toilets into works of art for a project playfully entitled “C’mon, Give A S__t”.

The toilets were displayed as public art along Market Street in San Francisco on November 21st, which also happened to be World Toilet Day. Lava Mae strives to provide hygiene related services to the homeless, and they’re planning to roll out a retrofitted MUNI bus  which will bring showers and toilets to the homeless by May 2014.
