Could You Draw the United States?

Do you think you could draw the United States, with the states, without looking at a map? It's a lot harder than you think! The staff at Buzzfeed tried it, with varying results (mostly funny). The above picture is one of their examples.

I thought I could do it. I only took about two minutes with a small pad of paper, so it's no Mona Lisa, but I got all 50 states (Alaska is to the upper left, but the label was cut in the picture). I should not have drawn the outline before I placed the Great Lake states, because I ended up with leftover space! (Oh yeah, that's the Republic of Indian Stream.)
