On Thursday, Google’s Motorola Mobility division filed a patent claim in the U.S. It’s for a very thin electronic device that attaches the skin of a user’s throat—what the inventors call an “electronic skin tattoo.”
It functions as a mobile communication device that, the patent claims, should have good audio pickup. It could be used to communicate with a phone, particularly in noisy environments or when the user must be quiet. It also contains the potential to serve as a lie detector. The Register reports:
And then there's the lie-detector feature. "Optionally," the filing muses, "the electronic skin tattoo can further include a galvanic skin response detector to detect skin resistance of a user. It is contemplated that a user that may be nervous or engaging in speaking falsehoods may exhibit different galvanic skin response than a more confident, truth telling individual."
