This Week at Neatorama

As the stores fill up with Christmas decorations and candy, and groceries are full of Thanksgiving turkeys, let's don't forget that we are in a holiday weekend right now. On Monday, countries all over the world mark the day that the Great War ended 95 years ago, and we don't even have to move it to the nearest Monday. On November 11th, 1918, an armistice agreement was signed between Germany and the Allies who defeated them. In the United Kingdom, the holiday is Remembrance Sunday, which is tomorrow. In Canada, Australia, and many other countries, the 11th is marked as Remembrance Day. In the U.S. we celebrate Veterans Day, which is observed on the nearest Monday, to honor all veterans, because we already had Memorial Day to honor the war dead. When you have time this weekend, you'll want to catch up on everything that's happened this week at Neatorama.

Jill showed us 15 Fantastically Fun Thor-Inspired Crafts to go with the movie opening this weekend.

We had peek at author Clifford A. Pickover's newest book, The Book of Black: Black Holes, Black Death, Black Forest Cake, and Other Dark Sides of Life.

Eddie Deezen brought us Scatter: the Story Of Elvis Presley's Pet Chimpanzee.

Alex gave us a challenge in Can You Go in THESE Bathrooms?

Gold Rush Girls came from Uncle John's Bathroom reader.

Mental_floss magazine contributed 5 Geniuses Who Renounced Their Work.

Blushing in the Dark: First Experimental Proof was from the Annals of Improbable Research.

Are you growing a mustache for Movember? We want to see it! You can win a t-shirt from the NeatoShop just by sending us a picture of your facial hair, but you must have it in before the 18th. Get the details on Movember Madness here.

Our collection of Great Pics of The Week was called May The Geek Be With You.

Hy Conrad's Whodunit this week was Death of a Swinger.

Our Conceptis puzzle this week was Tic-Tac-Logic.

Did you solve the Pzzlr this week? It was called Timing a Souffle. There was more than one way to get it done!

In the What Is It? game (our 300th!), the mystery object is an 1801 rounding plane; it was used for preparing the ends of wooden axles. But that's not nearly as funny as our comments! Colshorts said "That's a "Pirate Pete's Leg Pointer". Used exclusively at Pirate Pete's custom shops. Remember mateys..."Come to Pirate Pete's, where the prices can't be beat, and you don't have to have two feets".....Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" Yeah, that's worth a t-shirt! The other winning answer came from tarnation, who said "It's a Reverence Shaver 1. Insert arm 2. Have a friend grasp the handles and turn 3. Hang your head while your (now former) friend teases you for agreeing to something so ridiculous." Ha! You really should read all the comments, because they're all good! See the answers to all the mystery items this week at the What Is It? blog.

One of our polls this week asked Should Shoes be Worn in the House? The results were kind of surprising, at least to me. It seems that the USA is an exception, and the rest of the world takes their shoes off when entering a home.

In another poll, most of you agreed that The US Should Have Just 2 Time Zones. Then we had a new poll just last night in Snake Massage, where the biggest part of respondents so far went with the pun and said that bris is the most appropriate occasion for such a stunt.

The post with the most comments this week was Should Shoes be Worn in the House? Second to that was When Did Two-Strapping Get Cooler Than One-Strapping?

The most popular post was Hammock Bathtub Lets You Soak and Lounge at the Same Time. Following that was Dad Makes His Son a 3D Printed Prosthetic Hand for Just $10 and 10 of the World's Largest Pets. If you liked the hammock tub, you should bookmark the new Homes and Hues blog it came from. There's plenty of neat stuff like that over there.

The post that people ♥ed most was Pope Francis Embraces Very Deformed Man, followed by a tie between Free Puzzle and Busker Meets the Original Singer of His Song While Performing. Thanks for the ♥s! And don't forget, you can ♥ comments individually, too.

The posts that were emailed the most was Fake Tiger Boy and Real Tiger Cub and Arden Hayes Knows Countries.

Our biggest post on Facebook and Pinterest this week was Hammock Bathtub Lets You Soak and Lounge at the Same Time. On Google+, it was Overflow Bathtubs by Kasch.
