The Japanese design firm H-Concepts claims to have developed a totally new approach to the traditional umbrella. The Unbrella, as the company calls it, is…well, upside down. The stretchers are on the top instead of the bottom.
When you fold it, the runner slides down toward the handle, so the umbrella folds up rather than down. As a consequence, the wet surface of the Unbrella is contained inside the fabric. The outer surface isn’t wet, so it doesn’t get anything else wet on an already wet and dreary day. The Unbrella also stands up by itself, so you don’t have to prop it up.
